For a rental to be valid, the renter-driver must have an identity card or passport and a valid driving licence for driving in a European country.

For non-EU countries the licence must be in Latin characters and those that are not must have the necessary international certificates that will accompany the driving licence to drive in a European country.

Age of Driver-Renter:
– Age of driver-renter must be at least 21 years old.
– The driver’s driving licence must be issued at least 12 months before (can only drive the “small” category)
– For the “medium” and “suv-mini van” category the driver-renter must be at least 23 years old and over.
– For ages under 23 please inform us as there is an extra insurance premium cover.

Method of Payment:
We accept payment with debit or credit cards: Visa Mastercard, Dinners, China Union Pay, American Express and cash.
Before the rental be sure that your credit or debit card has available the suggested CDW amount (that amount needed to charge only in case of accident and when the liability is yours).

Commitment amount for damages under the car, stains on the seats or in the car interior from salty-sea water, food, drinks, damage on the vehicle chassis.

All the prices includes 24% VAT based on Greek legislation

Fuel Policy
All our cars are rented with the fuel full. The renters must return the car at the same full fuel condition.

Be careful when refueling. Be sure for the right choice of fuel.

If you notice that the incorrect fuel has been added to the vehicle, do not start the engine. Call us immediately.

Always keep receipts from gas stations as evidence.

Personal data:
We strictly protect your personal data.
Your personal data is available only when requested by the competent Greek authorities (Police) in case of accident or violations of the traffic code.

Delivery pick-up:
Free delivery and pick up from and to all hotels in Chania, Chania airport CHQ and the port of SOUDA.

1. Οutside the city of Chania there is a small extra charge.
2. There is an additional charge for midnight deliveries and pick up.

Ask us about the small extra charge for midnight delivery & pick up and for outside the city of Chania delivery & pick up.
You can pay the small extra charge, at the end of your booking, at the arrival meeting point or at the end of the rental.

2) 1100 euro waiver amount excess for the “medium” category (Peugeot 308 / Peugeot 2008)
3) 1300 euro waiver amount excess for the “minivan & SUV” category (Peugeot Partner Tepee / Dacia Duster)

For example you choose to rent a car from our “small” category with INSURANCE PACK 1 STANDARD CDW and during your vacation you are responsible for a case of accident, then the maximum liability payment amount for this category is 900 euro.

Up to 900 euros your credit/debit card will be charged. If the damage is less than 900 euro you will be charged a lower amount than the 900 euros.

Basic conditions for the validity of the coverage are that the driver of the vehicle does not violate the Traffic Code and is not under the influence of alcohol or under the influence of other prohibited substances.
Does not cover damages: under the car from an off road driving, off road crash, from wrong use.
Does not cover interior damages, soiled seats from sea salt, food, drinks, sun creams.
It does not cover the loss or the theft of your personal belongings and individual accessories, car parts.
It does not cover damages on the the chassis (body frame).
It does not cover tyres, wheel covers, outside mirror glasses (there are extra covers for outside mirrors glasses and tyre wheel covers you can choose from during the online booking procedure at the Add-Options or during the arrival at our meeting point).

For example, you rent a car from the “small” category with INSURANCE PACK 2 CDW PLUS++ and during your vacation you are responsible for a case of an accident, then the maximum liability payment amount for this category is the REDUCED to the amount of 450 euro.

Up to 450 euro, we will charge your credit/debit card.

If the damage is lower than 450 euro we will charge your credit-debit card exactly the correct amount.

– FULL INSURANCE FDW ZERO Excess ( in case of accident your liability is 0 euro)

For example If you rent a car from any category and you choose INSURANCE PACK 3 FULL INSURANCE ZERO EXCESS and during your holidays you are responsible for a case of accident, your liability waiver amount excess is 0 euro.

No charge to your credit/debit card or cash is needed to be paid for the damage.

Basic conditions for the validity of the coverage are that the driver of the vehicle does not violate the Traffic Code and is not be under the influence of alcohol or under the influence of other prohibited substances.
Does not cover damages: under the car from an off road driving, off road crash, from wrong use

Vehicle replacement and compensation:

If during your road trip your car breaks down, call us immediately and explain to us the situation about the problem and your location. From your description we will decide if we will send our mobile workshop to your location for immediate repair or send the roadside assistance for immediate car transfer to our workshop.

An immediate assessment will take place. If the repair can be completed quickly, we will return the car to you immediately, otherwise we will replace it. In case there is no other car available in this category and you cannot wait until the end of the repair, our company will replace it with a car from another category or refund you the rest of the rental cost.

– When an accident or incident occurs under the influence of alcohol, under the influence of other prohibited substances, in violation of the traffic code, ad use, bad driving skills, off-road driving, due to negligence or carelessness collision to the mechanical parts of the car and ignoring the audible or visual signals on the instrument panel or around and underneath the car as a result the stoppage of the car and making it unsuitable for use, no refunds or vehicle replacements can be requested.

– If a vehicle is not available in an unforeseen situation “Rafael Rent a Car” company reserves the right to replace the vehicle without prior notice and at no extra cost.

– If there is no replacement vehicle “Rafael Rent a Car” Company will refund the remaining amount of rental cost. This does not mean that the driver-renter is entitled to claim more cash compensation than the one already returned to his account (only in case the renter-driver is not responsible for accident or incident).

Compensations:

– Any compensation arising in the event of an accident (material or bodily injury), the amount of money and the time for disbursement of the compensation are determined only by the insurance companies and by the experts of the insurance companies.

– Our company has no responsibility and the driver/renter has no the right to demand from us any amount of money for any decision, the time and the amount of compensation which will be determined from the insurance companies.

– In case of a serious accident (with multiple disasters of any kind) under the responsibility of the driver-tenant. Any compensation that arises and exceeds the maximum amount covered by the insurance companies, the difference is borne by the renter-driver!

Our company does not bear any responsibility and no one can claim any compensation for an accident that is directly or indirectly responsible for the driver-tenant.

Our company faithfully follows what is defined by the Greek Legislation on vehicle insurance.

All our cars are insured with the best insurance company in Greece.

And we are the only ones offering the most insurance coverage from the basic CDW.

The replacement of the vehicle does not apply in case of fault of the driver-renter.
For example if:

1) The vehicle runs out of fuel:
On the island, whichever route you follow, there are gas stations everywhere for refueling.
But in case you run out of fuel, call us and we will inform the roadside assistance to take you to the nearest gas station.

Τhere is a possible charge for all of the above!

2) The key was lost or locked in the car:

There is extra cover for less stress but even if you didn’t choose it during your booking, please call us and we will come to your place and we will unlock your car and give you the second key to continue.
(In case of a lost key, the cost of purchasing and programming the new key is charged to the renter).

3) Battery discharge due to improper use, such as negligible operation of the radio or the lights forgotten on
Please call us and we inform the road assistance to come to your place and start your engine.

4) After an accident with material or mechanical damage.
If there is a vehicle available, we can replace it but if there is not, please be patient for its immediate repair or we will refund the rest of the rental amount.

Cancelation policy

– No refund for cancellations 48 hours before your arrival at the meeting point.

– No refund for cancelation during the rental.

– In case you are not present at the meeting point at the agreed time & day of your booking, we will try to contact with you by phone, email and messages. If you do not answer us or contact with us within 24 hours, your rental will be canceled without you being entitled to a refund.

Traffic Violations:

The renter assumes full responsibility for traffic violations and pays the respective fines, even the traffic violations that come after the end the rental.

What do I do in case of an accident or any other incident?

In case of an accident or any other incident the tenant-driver is responsible to follow the insurance procedure as set out below:

– Take photos of the accident

– Call the police (number to call 100). If there are any injured please call an ambulance (number to call 166)

– Obtain phone numbers, names and addresses of any witnesses

– Dont accept any responsibility or fault for the accident until the police has found the guilty party

– Contact us immediately by phone, Viber, Whatsup or videocall if it is possible!

– Send and tell us your location. If you dont know your exactly position, please send us your location from Googlemaps or the Viber application (from “send my location”).

We need to know your location because we will send you the Accident Care Service from the insurance company.

(Our company will contact with the insurance company and inform them about the accident. The insurance company will send you an official expert from the Accident Care Service).

The official expert will visit you at the accident place to help you fill in the form with the accident documents, he will obtain the police report if needed, photos, names, photos copy car licences from the cars involved in the accident, phone numbers from third parties and generally he will open the accident file to the insurance company.

– Obtain all relevant information from the third party or parties

– Complete and sign the accident report documents (we have given you all that documents with the rental agreement at the beginning of the rental).

Additional terms
Τhe renter is expected to take good care of vehicle, to preserve it in good condition, to check its mechanical condition, the oil & water level, the tires, the tires pressure etc.. and in general to behave in a prudent manner. Any repair of vehicle by renter himself or any other person is prohibited without lessors prior written consent. Vehicle must not exit out of Crete not be loaded on ship or other mean of transportation without Lessors prior written consent. Vehicle must not be used to carry persons or property for hire, to propel or tow any vehicle trailer or her object, to participate in or to follow rallies, for subleasing to third party, for purposes contrary to the Greek law, while renter or additional driver of the vehicle is under the influence of alcohol, hallucinatory drugs, narcotics, barbiturates or any other substance impairing his consciousness or ability to react. In contravention of any customs, traffic or other regulations ,by any third person other than renter & any additional driver for whom renter has accepted the daily charge for additional drivers, as such charge designated in the official lessors price list(tariff) ,to transfer or carry heave luggage, inflammable materials ,staining or badly smelling goods, narcotics etc…. to be involve illegal transports of locals or foreigners or to perform illegal acts, for travelling out of Crete without lessors written consent.

Jurisdiction
This Agreement is governed by Greek Legislation and dispute between the Lessor Company and the Renter arising from this agreement shall fall within the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts lying at place of the Lessors registered office.
